Christmas trees

Christmas tree collection takes place on Friday, January 10, 2025, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Do you have a natural Christmas tree? A special collection will be held in January to dispose of them.

All natural trees are accepted (fir, pine, spruce, birch). By participating in the collection, you ensure that your tree is recycled and transformed into wood chips or compost, rather than being sent to a landfill site.

Here are a few guidelines to follow

The tree must be accessible at the time of collection. To avoid it being buried under snow or ice, we ask that you put it in your driveway only the day before the collection date.

  • The diameter of the trunk must not exceed 13 cm (5 inches);
  • Tree height must not exceed 2.5 m (8 feet);
  • Decorations must be removed;
  • The tree must not be in a plastic bag;
  • The tree must be placed horizontally at the curb (not vertically in the snow).

Other drop-off points

Forgot to put your tree out for the January collection? Don’t worry! Trees are accepted at ecocentres. Go to one of the agglomeration of Montréal’s ecocentres : the nearest are in Saint-Laurent and LaSalle.

If you can’t make it to an ecocentre, we invite you to drop off your tree at the entrance of your property, next to your bin, during the next household waste collection.
