2016 Olympics in Rio

Pointe-Claire divers to represent Canada

The mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, Morris Trudeau, is pleased to congratulate, on behalf of Pointe-Claire residents, athletes Jennifer Abel, Meaghan Benfeito, Roseline Filion and Vincent Riendeau from the Pointe-Claire Dive Club, who will represent Canada at the Olympic Games in Rio this August.

“We feel very proud to see members of our Dive Club represent Canada at such a major event as the Olympic Games,” says Mayor Trudeau. “These athletes are models for our young people. They are an inspiration for those who dream of excelling and standing out. Our four athletes are achieving that by earning the privilege, through their work and talent, of representing Canada at world-class competitions.”

It is also gratifying for the head coach of the Diving Club, Yihua Li, and assistant head coach David Bédard, to be able to share this experience with these excellent athletes, since both of them have competed in past Olympics.

“These outstanding athletes are a source of pride for the Pointe-Claire community and a constant source of inspiration for the members of our Dive Club,” concludes the mayor. “I invite residents to keep on encouraging them so they can continue giving first-class performances at the international level in this sport that they love.”
