Baie-de-Valois Chalet: New name for the chalet currently under construction

The City of Pointe-Claire would like to announce that the chalet that is currently under construction, previously known as Grande-Anse Chalet, is now called Baie-de-Valois Chalet. This name refers to the bay where the chalet is located, i.e. Baie de Valois.

The bay owes its name to the Valois family, who settled on one of the plots of land bordering Lake Saint-Louis, designated on the maps of the time as Grande Anse. Over time, members of the Valois family acquired several pieces of land in the area. In the early 20th century, the name “Baie de Valois” gradually began replacing “Baie de la Grande Anse” on official maps.

Once construction is completed, the Baie-de-Valois Chalet and access to Lake Saint-Louis will be accessible to people with reduced mobility and adapted to the needs of the entire community. The new chalet will be inaugurated this spring.

The park’s facilities are used by more than 4,000 citizens every summer. The chalet will enhance the range of services available near Lake Saint-Louis, while preserving the view of the water.
