Greener than ever – Six new electric vehicles

The mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, John Belvedere, is proud to announce that the City is continuing its actions focused on sustainable development by adding six electric vehicles to its fleet.

“This green initiative will allow our teams who are out in the City every day to reduce their environmental footprint, as well as raise awareness among residents and City employees about the benefits of this type of vehicle,” stated Mayor Belvedere.

These six new electric vehicles alone will help reduce annual CO2 emissions in the atmosphere by 6,300 kg.

In addition to this initiative, charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles were installed at the Aquatic Centre and the Arena in the fall of 2015.

A government grant is also offered to those who want to purchase an electric or hybrid vehicle. For more information, visit http://vehiculeselectriques.gouv.qc.ca/english/.

“The goal of this initiative is to give current and future generations the best possible environment,” said Mayor Belvedere in conclusion.
