June 29, 2022 – Update by the provincial government regarding the COVID-19 pandemic

Here is a status report on the recent decisions and actions of the provincial government in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

New dose recommended for the most vulnerable people

The National Director of Public Health, Dr. Luc Boileau, recommends that people who are immunocompromised, age 60 and over, or suffer from a chronic illness, should obtain a fourth vaccine dose against COVID-19, if they haven’t already done so or if it has been more than three months since their last dose.

He also invites them to wear a mask when they visit busy public places this summer, such as festivals, shows or major events.

“We invite people to be prudent and, if they wish, to start wearing a mask again.  This can be very effective,” Dr. Boileau points out, referring to persons at risk.

He reminds the public that the circulation of new COVID-19 variants in Québec, more contagious than the previous ones, is triggering an increase in cases and transmission in the community.

He also considers that this rise will continue for another few days, but that we should observe a new decrease in cases over the next few weeks.
