May 4, 2022 – Québec government update regarding the COVID-19 pandemic

Here is the current situation regarding the recent decisions and actions of the Québec government about the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 10 days, masks will no longer be mandatory.

Dr. Luc Boileau, Acting National Director of Public Health, announced that the obligation to wear a mask in indoor public places will be lifted on May 14.

Masks will continue to be mandatory in public transportation and care environments.

However, masks should continue to be worn routinely.

“Even though masks are no longer mandatory in public places, that does not mean that we are prohibited from wearing them. Rather, they will be optional. And, of course, you can continue to wear a mask as a personal choice or to protect others,” Dr. Boileau emphasized.

The public health department also recommends that people who have symptoms, are immunosuppressed and/or in contact with vulnerable individuals continue to wear a mask in public places.
