New parking spaces in the Pointe-Claire Village this fall

The mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, John Belvedere, would like to inform citizens that new parking spaces will be available this fall on Lanthier Avenue and near Highway 20, as part of the implementation of the Special Planning Program (SPP) for the Pointe-Claire Village, adopted in 2016.

“These new parking spaces will enhance the appeal of the Pointe-Claire Village and promote buying local. All our actions are aimed at making the Pointe-Claire village a top destination for people to live, work and enjoy themselves in,” the Mayor of Pointe-Claire says.

Redevelopment work on Lanthier Avenue will be carried out to add parking spaces between Golf and Cartier avenues. The work will begin the week of September 16 and will continue until mid-October. It will involve excavating to build the foundation, modifying the level of existing catch basins, creating a concrete curb, then paving, painting lines and installing signage.

Through traffic will be permitted at all time. For safety reasons, some parking spaces near the work area will be closed. Time restrictions will also be lifted in the Edgewater parking lot, located in front of the Noël-Legault Community Centre, for the duration of the work.

Some 38 new parking spaces will also be made available at the beginning of October in the parking lot adjacent to the CLSC du Lac-Saint-Louis. Some of these will be reserved for businesses holding a permit, with no time constraints, and the other spaces will have a two-hour time limit per new vehicle. Distribution of one permit per business will be carried out at the end of September, as will the work to paint the lines on the ground and install new signage.

These new parking spaces were also requested by the community as part of public consultations and online surveys conducted on the Pointe-Claire platform “Pointe-Claire, it’s who we are” on the parking policy in the summer of 2018 and on the future of the village in winter 2018–2019.
