Pointe-Claire Canoe Club – Three athletes qualify for the World Championships

The mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, Morris Trudeau, is pleased to highlight the performance of the Pointe-Claire Canoe Club athletes who qualified to represent Canada at the Junior and Senior Sprint Canoe Kayak World Championships during tryouts held in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia from June 23 to 25.

“It is an honour to see our athletes distinguish themselves by qualifying for world-class competitions, and we are proud of their achievements. They inspire all young athletes and set an example,” states Mayor Trudeau.

Corrina Higgins will be part of the Canadian team at the Junior World Championships, which will take place from July 27 to 30 in Pitești, Romania. She is the first Pointe-Claire Canoe Club athlete to qualify in the kayak category.

Marc Tarling and Lissa Bissonnette will represent Canada at the Senior World Championships, which will take place from August 23 to 27 in Račice, Czech Republic.

“I invite residents to continue cheering for these talented and dedicated athletes as they follow their dreams and stand out among the best in the world,” says the mayor.
