Christine Gauthier, one of the world’s top paracanoers

The mayor of Pointe-Claire, Morris Trudeau, is pleased to congratulate athlete Christine Gauthier, from the Pointe-Claire Canoe Club, on brilliantly representing Canada at the Rio Paralympic Games.

“It is with pride that we recognize the achievement of high-performance athlete Christine Gauthier, who has placed in the top four in her event of paracanoeing. She is a source of inspiration for all young athletes who want to reach the highest level of their discipline,” said Mayor Trudeau.

Competing in the Paralympic Games for the first time, Christine Gauthier ranked fourth in the 200 m kayak race. A five‑time world champion, she trains at the Pointe-Claire Canoe Club.

“We invite the residents of Pointe-Claire to join us in congratulating this amazing athlete,” says the mayor. “We encourage young athletes to draw inspiration from her exceptional journey, talent and determination to train and get ready to tackle the challenges of their chosen discipline.”
