Snow storm – Waste collections maintained

The City of Pointe-Claire wishes to remind you that the waste collections scheduled today will be maintained, while our teams work to clear the streets.

To facilitate snow removal operations, please remember to place your bins away from the sidewalk and to remove them as soon as possible. This will allow vehicles to clear the sidewalks.

Snow removal on streets

There are two stages to snow removal on streets.

First, during the snowfall, the streets and sidewalks along main thoroughfares, in school zones and around healthcare centres are cleared, followed by secondary streets.

Once the snowfall has stopped, snow removal begins. The snow is blown onto properties or transported for dumping, depending on the area.

Owners with driveways are responsible for clearing them once the City’s vehicles have passed. For safety purposes, municipal by-laws prohibit piling snow that could hinder the visibility of drivers or dumping snow on the street, on the municipal right-of-way or within a 1.5-m radius of a fire hydrant.

Snow info

To accelerate snow removal operations, you must follow the no-parking instructions during snowstorms, even after your street has been cleared by the City’s vehicles, since snow removal operations involve several stages. Citizens are asked to limit the time they park their vehicle on the street to free up their entrance for snow clearing. To find out if you can park on the street between midnight and 7 a.m., go to the Snow info webpage or call 514-630-1205 every day after 5 p.m.

Overnight parking is only permitted in areas where it is already possible to park from November 15 to April 15.
