The 23rd Journées de la culture under the theme of gathering
The Stewart Hall Cultural Centre and the Pointe-Claire Public Library invite citizens to the annual Journées de la culture (culture days) event being held on September 27, 28 and 29.
These cultural days under the theme of gathering are an opportunity for all to take part in a series of activities promoting dialogue and encouraging exchanges between cultures, disciplines and generations.
New this year, the Central Library will be kicking off the festivities as of Friday, September 27, at 6:30 p.m. with the screening of a movie for the whole family. Find out which movie on the Library blog.
On Saturday, September 28, the Valois Branch welcomes children under four years old for two storytime sessions between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., while children aged 7 to 12 are invited to create a fall mural at the Central Library from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is required for both activities.
On Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29, the Stewart Hall Art Gallery invites participants to enjoy the two current exhibitions, as well as the one specially created for children in the Kids’ Corner. With Secret Plans, surrealist compositions, candour-filled drawings and improbable architectures invite us to rethink our spaces. Gates presents a series of Japanese-inspired abstract landscapes, and The Universe of Marianne Dubuc invites children to discover amazing and original characters.
On Sunday, September 29, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., poetic sounds will fill the air at the Stewart Hall Cultural Centre, first with the Guillaume Martineau Trio, showcasing a jazzy rendition of the musical treasures of Brel and Brassens with a piano performance on the terrace, then with two creative workshops, one to make up collective short stories (4 years old and up), and the other to create original and whimsical houses (open to all).
Also on Sunday, the Lakeshore Weavers Guild, Lakeshore Creative Stitchery Guild, and Claycrafters Pottery Studio will be available from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to demonstrate their crafts.
The Journées de la culture will take place on Friday, September 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, September 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, September 29, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
All activities are free. Registration is required for Library activities.
