Pointe-Claire stands out in Windsor and Kazan

On behalf of Pointe-Claire residents, Morris Trudeau, mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, is pleased to congratulate athletes Jennifer Abel, Meaghan Benfeito, Roseline Filion and Vincent Riendeau from the Pointe-Claire Diving Club, who distinguished themselves at the World Series in Windsor, Ontario (April 15 to 17) and Kazan, Russia (April 23 and 24).

“These athletes always make us prouder, competition after competition. It is an honour to be represented by such talented, hard-working and enthusiastic champions,” says Mayor Trudeau.

During the Windsor events, Jennifer Abel climbed up onto the highest step of the podium alongside François Imbeau-Dulac, right before the Chinese duo on the 3-metre springboard, in the mixed synchronized event. Jennifer Abel also won two bronze medals on the 3-metre springboard, in the synchronized event with her teammate Pamela Ware and in the individual event, respectively. Roseline Filion distinguished herself by winning two silver medals on the 10-metre platform in the individual event, and in the synchronized event along with her teammate Meaghan Benfeito. Meaghan also earned bronze medals on the 10-metre platform and the individual event, as well as a silver medal on the mixed synchronized platform alongside Vincent Riendeau.

In Kazan, the duo made up of Jennifer Abel and François Imbeau-Dulac climbed up to the third step of the 3-metre springboard podium, in the mixed synchronized event. Roseline Filion, in the individual event on the 10-metre platform, and Meaghan Benfeito and Vincent Riendeau, in the mixed synchronized event on the same platform, finished at the foot of the podium in fourth place, and Roseline Filion and Meaghan Benfeito won a silver medal in the synchronized event on the 10-metre platform.

At the close of the World Series, the duo made up of Jennifer Abel and François Imbeau-Dulac came in second place overall, as did the duo of Meaghan Benfeito and Vincent Riendeau, while Roseline Filion came in third place.

“We are all so proud when our City’s colours are flown with so much talent. They are role models through their perseverance and excellence alike. I am inviting Pointe-Claire citizens to keep up their support for these athletes,” concluded Mayor Trudeau.
