The Olympic Way (Ages 2 to 16)

Non-swimmers learn to swim using a swimming aid, which allows them to spend more time swimming. As they progress through the eight swimming levels, they become proficient at the four competitive swim strokes.

Not all levels are offered at all times.

Parent and Tot (5 to 24 months old)

Fun-filled learning for parents and children, who learn how to be comfortable in the water through play. Child must be 5 months old before the start of the session.

Beginner + (Ages 8 to 16)

Introduction to swimming for ages 8 and up to increase comfort level and independence in the water. To succeed in the program, students must swim one width of the pool continuously.

Teen Cross Training (Ages 11 to 16)

Program designed to improve general fitness, including agility, strength and stamina. It combines dryland and water components.

Dive fit (Ages 6 to 15)

Classes start with 20 minutes of fitness and games. Divers (6-15 years old) will then proceed to the diving boards for a 40-minute diving lesson. A child must master every skill at each of the eight diving levels before progression to the next level. In order to preserve the integrity of each class, we reserve the right to transfer children who are not in the appropriate level.

Special programs for children

Aqua Percept (Ages 3 +)

A gym and swim program for children who have poor coordination, perceptual motor difficulties, or attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity. The ratio is 3 children to 1 instructor.

A program for children with special needs, who could benefit from a 1:1 or 2:1 student-instructor ratio. It promotes improvement of gross motor skills and a positive self-image in a non-competitive environment.

Lifeguard, Instructor and First Aid courses

Bronze Medallion (Ages 13 and up)

Bronze Medallion teaches basic lifesaving principles. Candidates learn rescue procedures for both conscious and unconscious victims. Exams are given on the last day of the session. Due to this, the last class could end a little later than scheduled.

Bronze Cross continues the Lifesaving procedures taught in Bronze Medallion. Candidates are better prepared to assess dangerous areas and dangerous behaviours in order to keep aquatic facilities safe and to prevent accidents. Exams are given on the last day of the session. Due to this, the last class could end a little later than scheduled.

Standard First Aid / AED (Ages 15 and up)

The Lifesaving Standard First Aid course prepares the candidate to take on the role of medical attendant during an emergency situation. The candidate will learn specific first aid and treatment strategies to prevent further injury while waiting for the arrival of emergency medical services. The candidate is also trained to recognize signs and symptoms of potential danger. Please check dates and times below carefully as 100% attendance is mandatory.

National Lifeguard (Ages 16 and up)

The elements of this Lifesaving Certificate are designed to help candidates develop the 4 main elements of lifeguarding: knowledge, judgement, physical ability and skills. While reinforcing the guarding techniques and skills acquired in the previous courses, this course improves the decision-making process enabling lifeguards to prevent emergencies and to intervene in emergency situations.  Exam is given on the last day of the session.

This certification gives the candidates the knowledge required to teach the following lifesaving courses: Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross. They learn educational strategies enabling them to teach and assess first aid situations, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the different techniques and abilities in lifesaving.

Swimming lessons

Four levels of instruction are offered:

  • Initiation to Swimming is for individuals with a fear of water or those who have never learned to swim. It is designed to foster a feeling of safety and comfort in the water.
  • The Beginner course is for individuals who have basic skills but would like to become more comfortable and gain more confidence in the water.
  • The Stroke Improvement course is intended for swimmers who are looking to improve their technique in all four swimming strokes.
  • Endurance swimming is geared toward proficient swimmers looking to improve their front crawl technique in order to increase their proficiency and endurance in the water.

Aquanatal

Pregnant clients are encouraged to participate in our regular aquafitness classes which are scheduled as part of our Group fitness program.

Aqua-Arthritics

A hydro-therapy program designed to improve mobility, strength and functioning of individuals with arthritis and related conditions. A medical clearance is required for new participants.

Gym-Arthritics

This class has been integrated into the Fit ’n Sit membership which can be found under Fitness Over Fifty program. This new membership offers clients with arthritis or related conditions access to more than one chair exercise class. The classes include a complete warm-up and stretch as well as gentle exercises with the use of a chair. The program is designed to help participants to be autonomous for as long as possible.

Group Fitness

We offer a variety of group fitness classes to improve all components of physical well-being: cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, as well as flexibility. Classes are given by qualified instructors and are designed to suit participant’s needs and abilities.

  • Participation is strictly limited to the classes of the chosen membership.

  • Members will be required to wear and present a colour-coded tag for entrance to all classes. There is a $5 charge to replace lost membership tags.
  • This membership also offers use of the weight room from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.

  • Classes are offered on a first come first serve basis. For safety reasons, once a class reaches its maximum, clients will be refused entry on that day.
