Fully aware of the environmental, social and economic realities facing the community, the City has launched a number of sustainable development initiatives in recent years.
The Policy on Sustainable Development is a background document that sets out a long-term vision to which various municipal, community and external stakeholders will need to refer when implementing environmental, social and economic actions. Incorporated into the Policy is an action plan proposing concrete solutions for the short and medium terms over a five-year horizon; this plan is subject to change as required.
The Policy on Sustainable Development provides guidance ensuring that various actions are aligned with the broad issues identified by the federal and provincial governments and the expectations of these governments. The Policy also exemplifies the City’s commitment to its residents to create tools and resources for the formal management of sustainable development issues – and always with a view to improving the quality of life of our residents.
