2023 By-Elections
Following the resignation of Pointe-Claire’s City Councillor, by-elections will be held on April 23 to elect a new Councillor in District 1 – Cedar/LeVillage.
The citizens of District 1 are therefore invited to exercise their right to vote. Keep in mind that your elected municipal officers are essential players, responsible for making decisions in the interest of the citizens they represent.

Any person entered on the list of electors for District 1 may vote. Voters are responsible for making sure
their name is on the list.
In March, a notice indicating the names of the persons entered on the electoral list at each address will be
sent by mail. If your name is not on this list, you must go to the Board of Revisors to have your name entered.

When can you vote?
In March 2023, eligible voters will receive a registration notice/reminder card in the mail to ensure all participate in the District 1 by-elections. The following dates are when residents may vote:
Advance polling: April 16, 2023, from 12 to 8 p.m.
Polling day: April 23, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voting location: City Hall Council Chamber (451 Saint-Jean Boulevard)
Who is eligible to vote?
Any person entered on the list of electors for District 1 may vote. It is everyone’s responsibility to make sure their name is on the list. In March, you will receive by mail a notice indicating the name of each person entered on the list at your address. If your name does not appear on the list, you will have to appear before the Board of Revisors to have it entered.
To appear on the list of electors, you must meet the following conditions:
- You are at least 18 years old as of April 23, 2023
- On February 1, 2023 :
- You are a natural person and a Canadian citizen
(legal persons are not eligible to vote). - You are not in one of the situations leading to disqualification
under the law. - You meet one of the following conditions:
- You are a Pointe-claire resident and have been in Quebec for at least 6 months;
- You have been the owner of an immovable or the occupant of a business
establishment in District 1 for at least 12 months. - You have been a co-owner of an immovable or a co-occupant
of a business establishment in District 1 for at least 12 months.
- You are a natural person and a Canadian citizen
Documents required to vote
To vote, you will be required to present one of the following proofs of identity:
- Health insurance card from the Régie de l’assurance maladie
du Québec (RAMQ) - Driver’s licence
- Canadian passport
- Certificate of Indian Status
- Canadian Armed Forces identity card
