The ambitious Mani leaves her Indigenous community to become a lawyer. After completing her studies, she returns to the community in the hopes bringing about change. Determined to put an end to the obsolete laws that reign on the reserve, she proposes a referendum to put an end to the prohibition on alcohol, which brings her into direct conflict with Laura. The two women confront each other as they try to grab hold of their own destiny, for better or for worse.
