Join us for a picnic and outdoor activities in Stewart Park as we celebrate the Art Gallery’s summer vernissage.
Starting at 10 a.m.: Urban Sketchers of Montreal
Sketch Stewart Park, Lake Saint-Louis, and the Cultural Centre.
Paper and pencils will be provided.
11 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Botanical drawing workshop
Learn drawing and watercolour techniques, which you will have a chance to practice during the course of the afternoon.
Age 10 and up.
12 p.m.: Launch of the public piano season Latin jazz and Cuban program Neisy Wilson is a Cuban jazz singer, pianist, and composer. In 2011, she won a Syli d’or for world music with The Cuban Martinez Show.
12 to 2 p.m.: Picnic
Bring your lunch and sit by the water to enjoy the beginning of summer.
Snacks, drinks and ice cream will be available!
1 to 4 p.m.: Friends of Stewart Hall book sale
Proceeds from the used book sale go to the Friends of Stewart Hall Foundation.
1 to 4 p.m.: Art creation workshop
Based on the theme of the new exhibition.
2 p.m.: Vernissage MAKING A STAND : Revisited Pedestals – Part III
Everyone is invited to the Art Gallery for the vernissage of the exhibition.
3 p.m.: Performance: Déracinement
Choreographed around a large wooden structure such as a house without walls, Déracinement merges architecture of bodies and space to portray the path dancers take prior to leaving their nest.

3:30 to 4:30 p.m.: Our Memories Dance
With the help of choreographer Chloé Bourdages-Roy and two artists from the show, participants draw inspiration from their memories to develop their own movements. Between mime and dance, they share their histories and weave together a collective choreography.
