The North Star: Canada and the Civil War Plots Against Lincoln
Description
Award-winning Montreal journalist Julian Sher gives a riveting account of the role of Canadian heroes in the days leading up to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, including one Montrealer who helped capture Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth. However, while Canadians take pride in having served as a haven for 30,000 escaped slaves on the Underground Railroad, Canada also played a much darker role in supporting the slave-holding South and in fomenting the many plots against Lincoln.
