The City of Pointe-Claire is proud to announce that the Public Works Department has won the 2022 Canadian Public Works Association (CPWA) award for the creativity of the activities deployed during the Public Works Day as part of the National Public Works Week. The award was presented at a gala held on August 29.

“I would like to congratulate all the City teams who contributed to the success of this family event. The Public Works Department is essential to the proper functioning of a city, and ensures the maintenance and good condition of our streets, sidewalks, parks, green spaces, sports fields and urban canopy. The fun, creative activities offered during Public Works Day made it possible to understand the work of the teams, to try out their equipment and to meet the staff dedicated to the well-being of our community,” said the Mayor of Pointe-Claire, Tim Thomas.

National Public Works Week was held last May 15 to 21. On this occasion, a thematic day took place in person in the Public Works parking lot, on Sunday, May 15. The event featured engaging and informative workshops, led and facilitated by staff from the Public Works Department: citizens had the opportunity to discover the work performed by the men and women who make up the various teams. The vehicle fleet was also on display with descriptive sheets and QR codes leading to explanatory videos. A “Seek and Find” activity also encouraged citizens to find symbols representing the different tasks performed by Public Works. Creative crafts and event-themed colouring activities were also on hand, in addition to a construction-themed inflatable play course and a toy car circuit for children.

Public Works Day was a resounding success, enjoyed by over 650 citizens of all ages!

Several departments worked together to make the event a success: Public Works, Communications, Human Resources and Recreation all pitched in. Congratulations everyone!
