2023 Holiday Schedule for Municipal Buildings and Collections

The City of Pointe-Claire would like to inform you that all City’s administrative departments will be closed for the Holidays from Friday, December 22 until Tuesday, January 2, inclusively. The Inspection – Public Security Department will remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you need to reach this department, you may contact them at 514-630-1234 or at secpub@pointe-claire.ca.

During this holiday season, we invite citizens to take advantage of our numerous activities and winter programming. Here are the modified schedules for each municipal building:

Aquatic Centre

The Aquatic Centre will be closed from December 24 to December 26 and December 31 to January 2 inclusively. On the days where the facility is open, there have been extra activities added to our programming. To consult the facility’s schedule and its full list of winter activities, visit the Aquatic Centre’s webpage.

Olive-Urquhart Sports Centre

The Olive-Urquhart Sports Centre will be closed on December 24 and 25, as well as December 31 and January 1. The facility will also have a modified schedule on December 26 and January 2, where the building will only be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To consult the list of activities offered during the winter season, visit the Sports Centre’s webpage.

Bob-Birnie Arena

The Bob-Birnie Arena will be closed on December 24 and 25, as well as on December 31 and January 1 inclusively. The facility will be open on December 26 and January 2 at a reduced schedule, that is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. On the days where the facility is open, there have been extra activities added to our programming. Outdoor skating rinks, cross-country skiing trails and walking paths

Take advantage of Pointe-Claire’s two refrigerated outdoor rinks this holiday season, the first being the skating oval in the Pointe-Claire Village and the second being the Valois rink. These rinks and others on the territory of Pointe-Claire may be affected by varying weather conditions, so consult our Outdoor skating rinks and cross-country skiing page to check the status of the outdoor rinks.

Please note that the cross-country ski trails and walking paths will be operational only once there is a significant amount of snow on the ground. To check when the paths will open, and their daily status, visit our Cross-country skiing webpage.

Library

The Central Library and the Valois Branch will be closed from December 24 to 26, as well as December 31 to January 2 inclusively. You may still take advantage of the wide range of digital resources on the Pointe-Claire Public Library portal.

Stewart Hall Cultural Centre

The Stewart Hall Cultural Centre will be closed from December 24 to 26, as well as on December 31 to January 2 inclusively. To consult the Cultural Centre’s programming for the winter season, including the spotlight exhibition Cruel to be Kind – Pictura 2023, visit the facility’s webpage.

Modified Waste Collection Schedule

For sectors A and B, organic waste will be collected on Tuesday, December 26 and on January 2, while recyclable materials will be collected on Wednesday, December 27, and January 3.

Christmas Tree Collection

Natural Christmas trees will be collected on Wednesday, January 17, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. All natural Christmas trees will be accepted (fir, pine, spruce, birch). Please ensure the following guidelines are respected for this special collection:

  • The trunk’s diameter must not exceed 13 centimetres (5 inches);
  • The tree’s height must not exceed 2.5 metres (8 feet);
  • All decorations must be removed;
  • The trees must be placed horizontally on your curb (not upright in the snow).
