All Pointe-Claire properties now excluded from the flood zone decreed by Québec

The mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, John Belvedere, is pleased to inform citizens that as of August 20, all Pointe-Claire properties will be excluded from the flood zone decreed by Québec, under a new draft Order of the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation.

The City’s actions since June had already led to the removal of 250 properties, accounting for close to 95% of those identified, from the Special Planning Zone decreed by the Ministère to better manage flood zones. However, 15 dwellings still remained on the list.

“We continued to state our case to the Ministry, pointing out that none of the 15 Pointe-Claire properties still targeted by the decree on flood zones were flooded in 2017 or 2019, nor are they located in the 0-to-20-year zone,” noted Mr. Belvedere. “On behalf of these citizens, we’re delighted that our efforts were successful.”
