April 5, 2022 – Update by the provincial government regarding the COVID-19 pandemic
Here is a status report on the recent decisions and actions of the provincial government in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mandatory mask mandate maintained in April
Dr. Luc Boileau, Acting National Director of Public Health, announces that the mandatory mask mandate will be maintained for public places and public transportation throughout the month of April.
“As we are in the midst of the sixth wave, the current rise in cases and hospitalizations requires a cautious approach. We recommend that the mandatory mask mandate not be removed at this time. As most of the other measures have been lifted in recent months, we believe that maintaining this mandate is responsible,” points out Dr. Luc Boileau.
Vaccination: 4th dose
The administration of the 4th dose began in living environments, starting with CHSLDs.
People age 80 and over who live at home and immunocompromised people can also make an appointment now.
Starting April 6, the 4th dose will be offered to people age 70 and over.
Starting April 11, the 4th dose will be offered to people age 60 and over.
Those concerned are invited to make an appointment on the Clic Santé platform.
The 4th dose vaccination campaign for the general population could take place in the fall.
