Building a sports culture in the image of our Pointe-Claire athletes: Passionate, authentic, and goal-oriented
The City of Pointe-Claire is proud to unveil its new campaign in celebration of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. As part of the campaign, new banners have been installed at the Aquatic Centre showcasing Pointe-Claire athletes who have qualified for the Games, as well as our ambassador athletes embodying the core organizational values of the City and our partner, Sport’Aide.
These values are essential to building a positive sports culture, as well as a safe and healthy environment for all sports stakeholders.
The campaign’s slogan “Cultivate your passion. Be Yourself. Chase your dreams”, was developed to convey the evolution of an athlete through their sport: all athletes begin by developing a passion for their craft, remain true to themselves throughout their evolution through the sport and persevere through all obstacles in the chase for their ultimate dream: the Olympic Games.
Olympic campaign
Four athletes representing Pointe-Claire have qualified and are competing at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, which is a great sense of pride for the City and its community. To highlight their incredible accomplishment, as well as their continued hard work and determination, Olympic banners have been developed and installed at the Aquatic Centre (60 Maywood Avenue, Pointe-Claire) for all visitors to see.
Not only have these four athletes carved their way to the top of their respective disciplines, but they have also been role models and positive trend setters for other young athletes in the community.
Sport’Aide – Pointe-Claire campaign
On March 14th, 2023, the City signed a partnership agreement with Sport’Aide, an organization that offers support and guidance services to help eliminate violence in sports and create athletic environments that foster safety, security, and positivity.
With this partnership, the City is committed to improving its practices, providing a safe sports environment, changing the current discourse on sports culture, as well as being a leader of change in Quebec and inspiring other Cities to follow suit.
To create a positive sports environment, all members of the community need to understand and adopt the same system of values. The campaign promotes these values through the athlete ambassadors, who were each asked to select a value that best represented their own commitment to the community.
Banners featuring each ambassador athlete, their chosen value and its definition are on display and are both a representation of the actions Point-Claire will continue to take, and a constant reminder that the Sports Clubs, the Aquatic Centre and all other Pointe-Claire sports facilities embody these guiding values daily.
The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness among athletes, families, and all other members of the sports community of the importance of a safe and secure sports environment. The City has taken concrete steps to make a real difference within the sports community and will continue to do so.
We invite everyone to drop by the Aquatic Centre to see our new banners!
