Cancellation of sale of property for non-payment of taxes
Following an extraordinary meeting of City Council on June 15, the City is announcing the cancellation of the sale of property for non-payment of taxes scheduled for June 17, 2021, by videoconference.
To ensure that the procedure runs smoothly and complies with the legislative and regulatory framework in effect, the decision was made to cancel the sale for 2021 given the context around the pandemic. Only properties for which taxes were unpaid on September 30, 2019, were subject to this procedure. Cancellation of the sale this year in no way cancels, reduces or postpones the payment required. Interest and penalties will continue to accrue until complete payment of the balance owing.
