Celebrating our seniors’ contribution

National Seniors Day 2020

The mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, John Belvedere, and the members of City Council would like to recognize the contribution of seniors in our community on National Seniors’ Day.

“Seniors are at the heart of our community. Today, we benefit from their contributions and the fruits of their efforts. As we celebrate this day dedicated to them, we invite all generations to do everything they can to express our appreciation and support for them beyond this symbolic date, especially at this particular time when they may be feeling isolated,” Mayor Belvedere said.

In the current circumstances, the City invites citizens to celebrate this day by doing a nice gesture for a senior in their surroundings, while making sure to follow the health measures in place to continue to protect them.

“Our seniors have shown resilience since the beginning of this pandemic. Let’s all help brighten their day by calling them, writing to them or simply giving them a smile through the window,” the mayor suggests. “Every gesture counts to express our gratitude and appreciation.”

This day is part of the International Day of Older Persons established by the United Nations General Assembly and celebrated worldwide on October 1 each year.
