Collection of household hazardous waste
The City of Pointe-Claire reminds residents that household hazardous waste (HHW) will be collected on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The waste will be collected in the parking lot behind City Hall at 451 Saint-Jean Boulevard.
Hazardous household wastes are products that pose a risk to the environment and human health if they are not disposed of responsibly and safely. They are commonly used products that are corrosive, flammable, oxidizing, toxic or explosive. It is prohibited to dispose of them in household waste or to pour them in the sewers. If you are unsure about which materials are accepted for collection, go to the City’s website.
The following instructions must be followed to ensure everything runs smoothly:
- Organize your HHW in the trunk of your car, in sealed containers and separated from each other.
- Submit proof of residency in one of the cities of the Montréal agglomeration.
- Stay in your car.
- Turn off the car engine and open the trunk so that employees can remove the products.
- If you need to provide information to the employees, stay in the car while doing so.
Waiting times may vary depending on how many people participate. Please be patient and respect waiting lines. Depending on attendance numbers and the size of the waiting line, we may have to limit access before closing time. If this happens, you can always go to the ecocentre on Saturday, May 11 in the Public Works yard (50 Terra-Cotta Avenue). You can also go to the Saint-Laurent or LaSalle ecocentres: https://montreal.ca/en/topics/ecocentres
