Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Parks closed, next municipal tax payment postponed and essential municipal services maintained
The mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, John Belvedere, announces new measures, effective immediately, to assist citizens in response to the situation and limit the possibility of spreading the coronavirus (COVID-19), including closing parks, extending the tax payment deadline from June 1 to July 2, and maintaining essential services.
“We are constantly monitoring the situation in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), in collaboration with government and public health authorities,” Mayor John Belvedere said.
Closing of parks and library book chutes
To limit gatherings, maintain social distancing and avoid the possibility of spreading the virus through public facilities, play structures and outdoor training facilities and library book chutes are closed.
Tax payment postponed
The second instalment of the municipal taxes, scheduled for June 1, will be extended to July 2 to help citizens and merchants in the current circumstances. The City is awaiting confirmation of postponement of payment for the agglomeration of Montréal contribution.
Essential services
Only essential municipal services are maintained. These mainly include public security and road services, emergency work on sewers and the water supply system, building maintenance, as well as communications and administrative services. Collections are maintained according to the regular schedule.
Municipal buildings
All municipal buildings remain closed and activities cancelled, with the exception of City Hall and the Inspection – Public Security office, where access is restricted. City Hall will only be accessible through the front entrance on Saint-Jean Boulevard. The service counter at this entrance will receive deliveries. The staff there will answer questions, without providing any direct service.
