COVID-19 – Reopening of certain activities as of February 8

Due to the most recent government announcements regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the City would like to inform you that certain activities will be resuming as of February 8.

Outdoor activities

Outdoors, it will now be permitted to take part activities in groups of four people from four different households, while continuing to apply distancing measures.

In addition to public skating, stick-and-puck activities will be permitted on outdoor rinks, in groups of up to four people, as defined by public health authorities. A maximum of 25 people will be allowed on the ice at the same time and access is reserved for Pointe-Claire residents. The outdoor rinks will continue to close at 7:30 p.m. due to the curfew in effect as of 8 p.m.

Stewart Hall Cultural Centre

As of February 8, the art gallery, Kids’ Corner, boutique and Art Rental and Sales Service at the Stewart Hall Cultural Centre will welcome visitors:

Central Library and Valois Branch

As of February 8, the Central Library and Valois Branch will be open to the public for document consultation, borrowing and returns. Tables and computers will be available for reading, research and studying, either individually or with family members living at the same address, for a maximum of 3 hours. No activities will be organized on site. Contactless loans are suspended.

Spring break camp

The camps will take place virtually. Registration will begin on February 11 at 7 p.m. and end on February 24. Registration assistance will be available on February 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at 514-630-1366. The camps are reserved for Pointe-Claire residents.

Arena and aquatic centre

All public skating and swimming activities remain suspended. Only the lifeguard classes, Sport-Études program and training activities for elite athletes will continue to take place.

Active at home

A wide range of activities are available online to encourage adults and children to be active, read and discover art.

MULTI Card

All MULTI cards expiring between January 1, 2020 and April 29, 2021, will be considered valid until April 30, 2021.

City Hall service counters

City Hall service counters remain open from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for the planning and tax counters, which will be closed from 12 to 1 p.m. It is also possible to meet with a planning technician at lunchtime by appointment (514-630-1206, urbanisme@pointe-claire.ca). The multiservice counter will be closed on Thursday evenings.

To limit contact and travel, we encourage you to use the online services to apply for a residential permit or to complete a request. Any non-emergency situation, such as a bin in need of repair or faulty lighting, can be reported through the Voilà ! Signalement mobile app.

Council meeting

February 9 meeting: Due to the curfew, the council meeting will be held at 4 p.m. It will be rebroadcast at 7 p.m. the same day.

New deadlines for payment of your tax bill

The deadline for the first payment of the municipal taxes, scheduled for February 8, 2021, is extended to May 26, 2021. The deadline for the second payment, scheduled for June 7, is extended to August 26, 2021.

You can pay your municipal tax bill at a financial institution, either online, at the ATM or at the counter, by mail, by preauthorized payment, or at the City Hall service counter. For more information: 514-630-1300, ext. 1829, taxes@pointe-claire.ca.
