December 5 to 8 – Pointe-Claire plays host to a swim meet and hockey tournament

The Pointe-Claire Aquatic Centre and Bob-Birnie Arena will be very busy over the next few days with two major sporting events taking place, a swim meet and a hockey tournament.

Pointe-Claire AA and AAA Invitational

Today and for the entire weekend, the Pointe-Claire Swim Club will be hosting, as its name suggests, the Pointe-Claire AA and AAA Invitational, a meet involving 718 swimmers aged 11 and over from Québec, Newfoundland, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia.

The preliminaries will be held today beginning at 5 p.m. and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. The finals will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The results will be used to qualify swimmers for other provincial and national meets and will be available at http://results.ville.pointe-claire.qc.ca .

We invite you to come and cheer on the swimmers, especially the 140 who will be representing the Pointe-Claire Swim Club.

Annual Hockey West Island Tournament

Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be the annual Hockey West Island Bantam and Midget Tournament, which will host 28 teams from Pointe-Claire and Dorval.

Games will be held at the Bob-Birnie Arena from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The tournament will move to Dorval on Sunday. Results will be posted on the association’s website.

Since the Aquatic Centre and the Arena parking lot will welcome many participants, we remind you that you can use the parking lot behind Pointe-Claire City Hall, at 451 Saint-Jean Blvd., which can be accessed from Civic Center Avenue.

Best of luck to all the participants.
