The City invites you to join the Pointe-Claire Moves – Winter Challenge by taking every possible opportunity to be active between February 19 and March 6. This year, we are challenging citizens to be active for two weeks and, together, accumulate 30,000 active minutes.

All physical activities are welcome: cross-country skiing, racquetball, walking, skating, yoga, dancing as a family, pool laps, pickleball match, treadmill, stationary bike…you name it!

Once the challenge kicks off, enter your active minutes online on the Pointe-Claire, it’s who we are platform so that, together, we can attain 30,000 active minutes. The active minutes accumulated by the entire community will be featured in a new visual each week! Visit the platform or follow the City’s Facebook page to see it.

Each household that enters its active minutes on the platform runs the chance of winning one of eight $50 gift cards from the business of their choice in Pointe-Claire or Valois villages. You have until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, to participate and enter your active minutes. One form per family.

To kick off and close the Pointe-Claire Moves – Winter Challenge, the City is proposing two activities to bring everyone together.

February 19 –Du Voyageur Park
Skating, entertainment, music and hot chocolate

Let’s get together from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the skating oval in Voyageur Park for some skating, with a DJ spinning tunes and other entertainment.

There will also be an active area where families and friends can enjoy a life-size game of table soccer, a giant Jenga game, Tic-Tac-Dunk and a hockey challenge.

Delicious hot chocolate will also be served!

Buddy and his outdoor rink tour

To launch the active challenge, Buddy, the City’s mascot, will tour some of the City’s outdoor skating rinks on Saturday, February 19. Drop by, say hi and take some selfies with Buddy at 11 a.m. at the Hermitage Park rink, at 12:30 p.m. at the Clearpoint Park rink, at 1 p.m. at the Ovide Park rink, and at 2 p.m at the Northview Park rink!

Last stop on his tour: Buddy will be at Du Voyageur Park at 2:30 p.m. to enjoy the activities and music with everyone there.

March 5 – Valois Park
Skating, performance on ice, light beams and disco music

On Saturday, March 5, from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m., give your active challenge a final boost during the disco-on-ice event at Valois Park’s refrigerated rink. Reserve your place and come skate under the light beams to the most celebrated disco beats of the ‘70s. To add to the magic, come watch the performances on ice that will be presented throughout the day. During these performances, the skating rink will be closed to the public.

Reservations are required to participate. You can make a reservation as of Tuesday, March 1, at 9 a.m. on the LUDIK platform. The activity is reserved for Pointe-Claire residents.

Vaccination passport

The vaccination passport is required for the activities from February 19 to March 5 for participants 13 years of age and over. A photo ID will be required for participants 16 years of age and over.

Sharpen your skates and mark these dates on your agendas!
