Meet Eco-Nico, the City of Pointe-Claire’s new environmental ambassador
As part of its educational and sensitization efforts regarding ecological transition, the City of Pointe-Claire is proud to present Eco-Nico, the City’s new environmental ambassador. This winged spokesperson will serve as a tool to inform, support, and educate residents about various municipal environmental actions and sustainability projects.
The objective is to garner more interest and make environmental topics more accessible for the Pointe-Claire residents, as well as prompt the community to think more ecologically and incorporate sustainable habits into their daily routines.
Being interested and open to learning about environmental issues and actively working to solve them is the first steps towards a greener, more sustainable community.
Development of the idea
The bumble bee was the inspiration behind this ambassador, as these pollinators are central and crucial to our environment and ecosystems, and for much of the food that we eat daily. The hard-working, dedicated nature of bees were also fitting attributes to our ambassador, who strives to take action and tackle important environmental issues.
Eco-Nico will be used differently depending on the topic and context: it will help make technical and scientific terms more accessible, will sensitize and promote good sustainable habits in a positive and encouraging manner, and hopefully, generate interest in the City’s environmental actions and initiatives.
