Music on the balcony – Québec’s National Holiday and Canada Day celebrated outside seniors’ residences
To celebrate Québec’s National Holiday and Canada Day, the City of Pointe-Claire organized a series of outdoor musical performances in front of seven seniors’ residences.
On Sunday, June 27 and Thursday, July 2, the Spirit of New Orleans band livened up the streets and courtyards around the residences. For thirty minutes, music could be heard throughout the buildings to give everyone a chance to fully enjoy the show.
From the comfort of their balcony or window, residents swayed to the rhythm of great jazz classics performed by a trumpet, clarinet, trombone, tuba, guitar and voice ensemble. This cheerful event was a great way to enjoy summer weather and listen to music while following physical distancing guidelines.
The following residences were able to enjoy these mini-concerts over the two days:
- Villa Saint-Louis
- L’Estérel
- Sélection West Island
- Edwin Crawford
- Wellesley
- Cambridge
- 33 Maywood Avenue
Much like the open-air concerts put on for Mother’s Day, this new series was received with enthusiasm and good spirit, and was a great success!
