New rainwater retention basins to improve safety in the Hymus Boulevard area

The City would like to inform residents that a new phase has been completed in the ongoing work on Hymus Boulevard with the installation of two rainwater retention basins to improve safety in the area during periods of heavy rain.

These large basins have been installed over the existing network.

The first basin, with a total capacity of 1,000 cubic metres, was installed near the intersection of Saint-Jean Boulevard. The second, with a total capacity of 3,000 cubic metres, is located between Hasting and Manfred Avenues. This major project will help prevent flooding in the area during periods of heavy rain, which are becoming more and more frequent due to climate change.

Work in progress on Hymus Boulevard will continue until December and will include rebuilding the pavement and sidewalks, developing a bicycle path, and replacing the street lighting and traffic lights. Landscaping work in the area is scheduled to begin next year.

To find out about changes to the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) bus service, visit www.stm.info or call 514-786-4636.

Thank you for your understanding.
