New weather stations to optimize our actions
The mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, John Belvedere, is proud to announce that four weather stations in strategic locations in the City will be sending weather data to Public Works in real time, thereby optimizing our actions throughout the territory.
“These stations will allow us to act even quicker in the right places and based on current needs. This innovative solution, which will be used throughout the year, will guide snow removal operations and limit flooding risks,” stated Mayor Belvedere.
Powered by solar energy, the stations will collect precise measurements related to precipitation amounts, air temperature, dew point, and surface temperature in order to anticipate the potential for ground frost, freezing rain, and heavy precipitation.
“This pilot project is part of our commitment to constantly find innovative practices, limit our environmental footprint, and continue to improve the services we offer to the community,” said Mayor Belvedere in conclusion.
The stations are located near Brunswick, Saint-Jean, and Des Sources Boulevards, as well as Du Bord-du-Lac – Lakeshore Road.
