Pointe-Claire honoured – City Manager Robert-F. Weemaes honoured by the Association des directeurs généraux des municipalités du Québec

Pointe-Claire City Manager Robert-F. Weemaes was awarded the 2017 Prix Distinction from the Association des directeurs généraux des municipalités du Québec (ADGMQ) to highlight his expertise in leadership, vision, management and public service.

“We are particularly proud to rely on a city manager of Mr. Weemaes’s skill and calibre. The fact that he has received such an honour from all city managers of municipalities in Québec shows how well the City of Pointe-Claire is managed, as we can see on a daily basis,” declared Mayor Morris Trudeau in reaction to the presentation of this distinction.

Founded in 1935, the association awards the Prix Distinction, which has been presented every year for the past six years, after a review of the nominees by a jury comprised of professionals who have worked in city management, of one representative from the École nationale d’administration publique (ENAP) and of one representative of the ADGMQ executive committee.

In recognition, Alain Marcoux, city manager of the City of Montréal, highlighted Mr. Weemaes’s intelligence and communication skills, and Mayor Chantal Deschamps of Repentigny, who had the pleasure of working with him, noted the positive leadership that Mr. Weemaes exhibits wherever he goes.

Mr. Jean-Denis Jacob, Director of Legal Affairs and City Clerk of the City of Pointe-Claire, states that, “Mr. Weemaes is a model of honesty, integrity and a sense of duty and responsibility which is the prerogative of any city official serving the people.” Marie-Josée Boissonneault, Treasurer of the City of Pointe-Claire for five years and currently with the Réseau de transport métropolitain (RTM), adds that he is an excellent advisor and a great leader.

Robert-F. Weemaes has worked in municipal circles for 42 years and was city manager for the Cities of Chibougamau, Beloeil, Repentigny on two occasions, Saint-Lambert, Granby, Gatineau and now Pointe-Claire. He has worked with 12 mayors, over 150 elected officials and has managed over 10,000 employees, in addition to managing 8 billion dollars in public budgets.
