Pointe-Claire is first municipality to obtain Renewable Energy Certificates

The City of Pointe-Claire is continuing to reduce its ecological footprint and accelerate its commitment to a clean energy transition and environmental protection.

In 2023, electricity consumption for all municipal infrastructures, totalling 8,140 MWh, was supplied entirely by renewable energy sources. This means that every appliance switched on, every street lit and every municipal building powered in the city contributed to a cleaner, more sustainable future for generations to come.

With this environmental action, Pointe-Claire becomes the first municipality to prove, by obtaining Renewable Energy Certificates (REC), that the energy it consumes comes from 100% renewable sources.

We will continue our efforts to make Pointe-Claire a model of environmental sustainability and resilience. Every action counts, and together we can make great things happen to protect the environment.
