Pointe-Claire stands out once again!

In recent weeks, several athletes from the Pointe-Claire Canoe Kayak Club competed in two Sprint Canoe Kayak Provincial Championships, the U16, U18, Open, Masters, Para and the U10, U12, U14 categories. Following these two meets, the Pointe-Claire Club ranked second among 12 clubs.

“Our athletes have once again stood out in competition and it’s a great source of pride for Pointe-Claire,” Mayor John Belvedere says.

With these results, 23 Club athletes will compete at the Canadian Championships in Regina, Saskatchewan, at the end of the month. In addition, Lissa Bissonnette will represent Pointe-Claire and Canada at the World Championships in Szeged, Hungary, from August 21 to 25 in the K4 500m discipline. Her participation is aimed at qualifying a Canadian boat at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

“The determination and perseverance required to reach such a level is remarkable; these athletes are inspiring role models for us all!” Mayor Belvedere concludes.
