Pointe-Claire Volunteer Rescue Unit: a team committed to making a difference
The Pointe-Claire Volunteer Rescue Unit (PCVRU) is a passionate team committed to serving the community. In 2024, members put in an impressive 4,900 hours of service, despite a 30% reduction in their workforce. They currently have 21 dedicated members, carefully selected for their seriousness and commitment. The unit responds to events throughout the year, providing a constant, reassuring presence for the community.
The PCVRU makes a point of providing its new members with first-aid training and appropriate equipment. Training is at the heart of their mission: Each member undergoes 12 hours of annual certification for first responders, complemented by ongoing theoretical and practical training in search and rescue.
The unit’s commitment to the environment is also a priority. 95% of their operations are as green as possible, demonstrating respect for the planet.
For 2025, the goal is to improve recruitment. They are actively working to attract serious and motivated new members, while aiming to increase existing members’ commitment to acquiring new skills and maintaining a high level of training.
