Remembrance Day: Flags at half mast in memory of veterans
On Saturday, November 11, from sunrise to sunset, the flags at City Hall will be flown at half mast to pay tribute to all those who died in combat.
The flags had also been flown at half mast last November 4 during the commemorative ceremony to honour veterans. This annual commemoration is a collective duty of respect to mark the efforts of those who sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom. It symbolically and tangibly marks their contribution to the war effort so that we can live in peace.
Everyone is invited to wear a poppy, the symbol associated with the memory of those who died in the war to defend the freedom from which we still benefit today.
