Removal of At-Risk Trees – Beaconsfield Golf Club Wooded Area

Hydro-Québec is conducting work near the Beaconsfield Golf Club.

They are cutting down trees near power lines to prevent outages.

Power outages are possible. Residents affected will be informed in advance by Hydro-Québec.

 

 

Hydro-Québec has informed the City of Pointe-Claire that tree cutting is currently taking place and will continue for the next few weeks. This work will be conducted near the power lines running alongside the wooded area of Beaconsfield Golf ClubClub and . This workwill be carried out throughout is scheduled for fFall 2024. The and is aimed aobjective of this project is tot improveing the safety and reliability of electricity services for residents and local infrastructure.

 

Work to Prevent Outages and Ensure Safety

Ensuring the safety and reliability of the electrical network is a priority for Hydro-Québec. In collaboration with forestry experts, trees that pose a potential risk to the power lines will be removed. This action is intended to prevent service interruptions caused by outages or damage to infrastructure, especially in critical areas like the one near the Beaconsfield Golf Club.

 

These operations not only protect the power grid but also ensure a continuous supply of electricity to residents and essential infrastructure, such as nearby schools and businesses.

 

Work Schedule

  • Work period: Fall 2024
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Affected area: The areazone along the wooded area of the Beaconsfield Golf Club, between Douglas-Shand and Stillview Avenues

Temporary power outages may be necessary during the work. Residents affectedAffected residents will be notified in advance.

 

Environmental Considerations and Waste Management

As part of this operation, 24 trees with a diameter of 31 cm or more will be cut, as well as several trees with a smaller diameter. After the trees are removed, branches will be chipped when possible, while trunks over 10 cm in diameter will be left on-site, cut into sections approximately 4 feet long.
