Second Library Getaway Festival of Pointe-Claire: French-speaking Belgium and its culture

From October 17 to 22, the Pointe-Claire Public Library invites citizens to its second Library Getaway Festival.

For this second edition, in collaboration with the General Delegation of Wallonia-Brussels in Quebec and as part of its 40th anniversary, children and adults are invited to the Central Library for a journey to the heart of Belgian culture and traditions through fun and educational activities, lectures and tastings.

Read, listen, discover, taste: this is what this event will offer for a festival packed with emotions.

Read: exhibition on the Boule et Bill, 60 ans de bonheur au quotidien, comic strip; lecture with Jean-Luc Cornette, cartoonist of the work La Reine Garçon.

Listen:  interpretation of Jacques Brel’s songs by Pierrot Fournier; magnificent stories by storyteller Anne Borlée.

Discover: a mussels and fries cooking workshop with Chef Anthony Bardier; lecture with Vincent Arseneau on Brussels and its museums; guided tour of Brussels via videoconference with Brussels By Foot; crafts.

Taste: lecture and chocolate tasting with Marlain Chocolatier as well as a lecture and beer tasting with Patrice Schoune from Microbrasserie Schoune; waffle tastings with Bar à Gaufre – Waffle Bar.

In addition to these activities, special activities have been planned for children: crafts, Dungeon and Dragons club, or even the storytelling hour.

Visit the exhibition of the famous comic book Boule et Bill, 60 ans de bonheur au quotidien, for a chance to win an album by a Belgian cartoonist.

The Library Getaway Festival plans to put forward a program that will showcase a different region, tradition, culture or theme every year.
