Update: Special storm debris collection extended

Update: August 17, 2024

The City wishes to inform you that due to the large volume of debris, the special collection will be extended over the next week.

Thank you for your understanding.

August 12, 2024

A special collection will start tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13. It will take place over several days and in several stages: it is therefore possible that different trucks will come over several days to collect your debris.

The instructions will be temporarily adapted due to the significant amount of debris affecting many citizens.

Exceptionally, for this collection, we will accept all types of items and materials (e.g., upholstered items, construction materials, etc.). Hazardous household waste, electronic devices, and devices containing halocarbons (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, etc.) must not be disposed of during this collection.

We are currently evaluating the possibility of conducting additional collections due to the weather conditions. We will communicate further on this subject later.

Instructions for the collection

  • Your debris must be placed in your driveway, at the edge of the public roadway.
  • The weight of each item must not exceed 220 lbs (100 kg), and the maximum dimensions are 1.8 m (6 ft) by 1.2 m (4 ft).
  • Debris placed in plastic bags should not weight more than 55 lbs (25 kg).
  • Sharp or dangerous materials must be secured (e.g., remove nails, screws, or others).
  • Where possible, objects should be tied in bundles to prevent scattering and to facilitate pickup.

Damage and insurance claims

Note that if you are waiting for a response from your insurance, it is important to keep evidence of the damage to show to your insurer. Therefore, it is important to take photos or videos of the damage and to keep the damaged goods. You may place these outside.

We stand in solidarity with all those affected. Together, we are working to overcome the challenges posed by this storm.
