Spring 2025 Maintenance Operations

With the warmer weather upon us, the City of Pointe-Claire has begun its spring maintenance operations to ensure the safety and cleanliness of our public spaces.

Pothole Repairs

Throughout the year, our teams work on repairing potholes. During winter, weather conditions require us to use cold mix asphalt, which, while effective for temporary repairs, offers less durability.

With the arrival of spring, the milder temperatures and drier weather allow us to switch to hot mix asphalt. This method significantly enhances the efficiency and longevity of our repairs, contributing to safer and more comfortable roads for everyone.

For your safety and that of other road users, we remind you to adhere to speed limits, or even slow down, especially in areas affected by potholes. Stay vigilant and adjust your speed according to road conditions.

If you wish to report a pothole, you can submit a Paving Request via our Online Request System. Your report will be directly forwarded to the department responsible for these operations.

Street and Sidewalk Cleaning

We have started cleaning streets and sidewalks using mechanical brooms and other equipment, thus removing dirt and debris accumulated over the winter.

This operation is not just about visual cleanliness; it also prepares the surface for better adhesion during pothole repairs.

To facilitate these operations, we ask that you please avoid parking your vehicles on the street.

Water Main Flushing

From April 13 to July 30, we will be conducting the annual flushing of the water main system, an essential operation to maintain the quality of your drinking water. The work will take place at night, from Sunday to Friday, between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., and is carried out by a contractor hired by the City, whose vehicles are clearly marked for easy identification.

A notice will be posted on your door a few days before the work begins to inform you. Please note that this notice may be delivered during the day or at night, depending on the contractor’s schedule.

What to do during flushing?

  • Avoid washing clothes and dishes during flushing hours.
  • If you notice that the water is cloudy or colored, let the cold water run until it clears.
  • If water stains appear on your clothing, the City offers an effective cleaning product, available at the city hall at 451 Saint-Jean Boulevard.
