The Pointe-Claire Swim Club wins the summer AQUAM AAA provincial championship

The mayor of Pointe-Claire, Morris Trudeau, is proud to highlight the performance of the athletes of the Pointe-Claire Swim Club who won the summer AQUAM AAA provincial championship, which took place here at the Pointe-Claire Aquatic Centre from July 7 to 9.

“It is an honour to see our athletes distinguish themselves and perform so admirably and represent our City with this much pride and success. I would also like to bring attention to the efforts of all the athletes from across Québec who took part in this high-level competition,” states Mayor Trudeau.

411 athletes, including 58 swimmers from the Pointe-Claire Swim Club, participated in this championship, which featured many exciting races.

Pointe-Claire athletes scored a total of 860 points to win the top honours at this sporting event.

Among the noteworthy performances, Jeanne Dhamen won six races in the girls’ 13-14 age group (400m and 800m freestyle, 100m butterfly, and three relays). On the boys’ side, Stanford Li finished first in five races (200m backstroke, 400m medley, and three relays).

In the 15-16 age group, Charles Millette stood out with four victories (200m backstroke, 200m butterfly, and 200m and 400m medley). His teammate, Kyra Schweers, won the 400m medley and finished in second place in the 200m breaststroke and in third place in the 400m freestyle, 200m medley, and 100m butterfly.

Head Age Group Coach, Paul Biloserskyj, is thrilled with how far the young athletes have come this year. “This shows their dedication and desire to succeed,” he said, delighted.

“These passionate young people train hard to improve their technique and speed. Their results are encouraging and they are an example for all other athletes to follow,” concludes Mayor Trudeau.
