Three Pointe-Claire athlete compete at the 2024 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships

The City of Pointe-Claire would like to congratulate Pointe-Claire athletes Mackenzie-Mai Van Houtte Cachero, Samuel McCaffrey and Dean Calfacacos for their brilliant performances at the 2024 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships, held in Rio, Brazil.

Mackenzie-Mai Van Houtte Cachero qualified for her first final in the 1m event for girls aged 14-15 at her debut international meet, finishing in 11th place with a score of 286.70 points.

Samuel McCaffrey earned a 12th place finish in the final of the 1m event for boys aged 16-18 with a score of 422.40 points. He also competed in the boys aged 14-18 synchro 3m event alongside his partner, Emmitt Reesor, where they placed 6th overall with a score of 251.07 points.

Dean Calfacacos scored 427.40 points in the 10m event for boys aged 16-18, finishing 20th overall.

Pointe-Claire Aquatic Club coach Jim Wynne also attended the event in support of these young divers.
