Boil water advisory due to water main break on Delmar Avenue
September 8, 2023
Following work on the water main break on Delmar Avenue, between Hymus Avenue and the Highway 40 service road, the City of Pointe-Claire wishes to inform you that a boil water advisory is in effect for businesses of the area. Affected businesses have been informed.
A new notice will be issued as soon as the water is safe to drink again.
Boiled or bottled water must be used for the following purposes:
- Drinking and preparing beverages.
- Preparing baby bottles and baby food.
- Washing and preparing raw foods (fruits, vegetables, etc.).
- Preparing foods that do not require prolonged cooking.
- Make ice cubes.
- Brush your teeth and rinse your mouth.
Water can be used for:
- Cleaning dishes in hot water, make sure to wipe thoroughly.
- Washing clothes.
- Showering and bathing, make sure children don’t swallow the water.
These recommendations are in force until further notice.

Water main break on Delmar Avenue
September 7, 2023
The Public Works Department has been notified of a major water main break on Delmar Avenue, between Hymus Avenue and the service road towards Highway 40. Water pressure has been reduced in the area to allow the work to be conducted, which will begin on Friday morning.
Businesses and residences in the area will experience variations in their water pressure. The water in nearby businesses and residences may also be coloured. It is recommended to let cold water run for a few minutes before consuming.
Delmar Avenue is closed to traffic at this height. Only local traffic is permitted. Drivers must take Doyon Avenue or Des Sources Boulevard to reach Hymus Avenue or the Félix-Leclerc Highway (40).
