Tuesday, October 15, 2024: Water Shut-off and Boil Water Advisory – 253 to 281 Bord-du-Lac – Lakeshore Road

On October 15 starting at 1 p.m., the water will be shut off for a few hours.
When the water is back, you’ll need to boil it for at least 1 minute before drinking or using it.
You will receive a message when it’s safe to use the water normally.

The City of Pointe-Claire would like to inform you that, due to water main inspection work on Bord-du-Lac – Lakeshore Road, the City of Montreal is planning a water shut-off in the Village area on October 15, 2024, starting at 1 p.m. The shut-off will last for a few hours.

Affected Addresses:
253 to 281 Bord-du-Lac – Lakeshore Road

Following this water shut-off, a preventive boil water advisory will be in effect for your address as soon as the water service is restored. This advisory will remain in place for 24 to 72 hours, until tests confirm the water quality. You will receive another notice confirming the lifting of the boil water advisory.

We recommend that you make the necessary arrangements to minimize any inconvenience caused by this temporary shut-off.

Before the water shut-off:

  • We recommend filling containers with water to meet your essential needs during the shut-off, such as drinking, cooking, and washing.
  • It is advisable to fill your bathtub or keep buckets of water on hand so you can manually fill your toilet tank to continue using it during the shut-off.

During the water shut-off:

  • Avoid using appliances that require water, such as dishwashers and washing machines, until the service is restored.
  • Turn off the water supply to your refrigerator’s water dispenser and ice maker, if applicable.
  • Turn off your taps to prevent water from spilling or spraying when the water service is restored.

During the boil water advisory:

  • Boil water for at least one minute before consuming it (drinking, cooking, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing baby bottles, etc.).
  • You may choose to use bottled water for drinking and food preparation if preferred.
  • Non-boiled water can be used for tasks that do not involve direct consumption, such as taking a shower (avoid swallowing the water).
  • If your water is discoloured, it is advisable to run the cold water until it becomes clear before using it, especially before doing laundry or washing dishes.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
