World Diving Series
Pointe-Claire wins six medals
On behalf of Pointe-Claire residents, the mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, Morris Trudeau, is pleased to recognize the achievements of Dive Club members Jennifer Abel, Meaghan Benfeito, Roseline Filion and Vincent Riendeau. These young athletes have given outstanding performances over the past few days at World Diving Series competitions in Beijing and Dubai.
“We’re very proud of the way our Dive Club members are performing internationally,” says the mayor. “They’re a source of inspiration for many athletes who also dream of competing at this level.”
The World Diving Series began in Beijing where Jennifer Abel took silver at the mixed 3-metre synchro event with François Imbeau-Dulac, while Meaghan Benfeito and Vincent Riendeau took third place as a twosome for their performance at the 10-metre synchro tower event. Roseline Filion also did well, gaining seventh place at the individual 10-metre platform event as well as fourth place at the synchro event with Meaghan Benfeito.
In the second part of the World Series, held in Dubai, Jennifer Abel maintained her momentum, winning two silver medals at the individual and mixed 3-metre springboard events. Vincent Riendeau gained an additional medal, finishing second at the mixed 10-metre synchro with Meaghan Benfeito. Benfeito also took a second silver medal at the 10-metre synchro platform event with her teammate Roseline Filion.
“I encourage Pointe-Claire residents to keep on supporting our athletes,” concludes Mayor Trudeau. “The way they are representing us abroad is truly remarkable.”
