Transitioning towards a new public Wi-Fi for Pointe-Claire

During the week of June 19, Pointe-Claire citizens will have access to the new version of the City’s public Wi-Fi. It will be accessible in most municipal facilities, including the City’s Town Hall, Public Library, Olive-Urquhart Sports Centre, and Stewart Hall Cultural Centre.

While this transition to the new network is underway, visitors may be without public Wi-Fi. We apologize for any inconvenience you may encounter.

This new network will allow citizens to seamlessly connect to the Wi-Fi without having to ask the front desk or reception for an access code. To connect to the City’s new public Wi-Fi, a new page will open in your browser, and you will need to click on ‘PubliqueVPC’ in the Wi-Fi section of your device’s settings. You will then need to accept the terms and conditions. This process will have to be repeated at every visit in order to connect to the public network.

Wi-Fi terms and conditions

Users must respect the following terms and conditions to remain connected to the public Wi-Fi:

  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential, as well as all activities performed under your username and password.
  • Pointe-Claire offers free internet connection for activities such as the active use of e-mail, instant messaging, internet browsing and accessing corporate Intranet. However, high volume data transfers, especially continued high volume data transfers, are not permitted.
  • Hosting a web server or any other server by use of our Service is prohibited.
  • Trying to access someone else’s account, sending unsolicited bulk e-mails, collecting other people’s personal data without their knowledge and interference with other network users are all prohibited.
  • Pointe-Claire reserves the right to suspend the Service if the City reasonably suspects that your use of the Service is unreasonably excessive, or you are using the Service for criminal or illegal activities.
  • You do not have the right to resell this Service to a third party. Pointe-Claire reserves the right to revise, amend or modify these Terms & Conditions, our other policies and agreements, and aspects of the Service itself.
