Celebrating neighbourhood parties in a fun and safe way
As we approach Neighbors’ Day, which falls on June 1st this year, the City of Pointe-Claire would like to remind you that neighbourhood parties are an excellent opportunity to strengthen community ties and relationships with your neighbors. But it’s important to do it the right way.
Here are a few more guidelines to help you prepare your festivities and gatherings in accordance with current regulations.
Neighborhood party procedure
Gatherings must not impede local traffic or cause traffic congestion due to the presence of people near roadways. It’s important to always follow the road signs and regulations in effect, and to respect the neighborhood.
Block parties are best held in public spaces, away from roadways, so that participants can enjoy the party in complete safety. Local parks and green spaces are designated for this purpose. Depending on the size of the event, validate whether you need City approval to hold such festivities.
Please note, however, that you cannot reserve a park for your event, or restrict access to it, as it must remain accessible to all.
Gatherings requiring a permit and authorization from the City include:
- An animated event attended by a large number of people;
- Event where food, beverages and promotional items are sold;
- Installation of a big tent or structure over 100 m2.
- The use or presence of alcoholic beverages.

Have fun and be safe!
